Team Profile: Rachel McCroddan

Rachel McCroddan is Raison’s resident adventurer who’s ready to dive into the deep end of any project. She’s a hardcore journal-er, maker and drawer who brings illustrative skills and handmade craftsmanship to Raison.

Raison d’etre is some fancy French-ness. What’s your favorite fancy and French thing?

I like to consider myself a bread enthusiast, so it is a toss-up between baguettes and croissants—although I’ve read that croissants are actually Viennese. My favorite fancy thing is celebrating big occasions with a nice dinner and a bottle of wine!

What’s the weirdest task you’ve done for Raison?

I started here recently, so I haven’t done anything too out of the ordinary yet, (wink). But I made a pilgrimage known as the Camino de Santiago not long before joining the team. I walked 570 miles across Spain, I guess a lot of people would think that’s weird.

How do you feel about the color pink?

It stands out, and you can’t help but notice it. That’s great for a brand, it’s a conversation starter. I used to not like pink because I thought it was too girly, so it’s funny that because Raison’s only brand color is pink, it really caught my eye and made me want to work here!

What overused industry buzzword do you hate the most? Why?

Definitely “solutions.” For example, “Can you present some creative solutions to us by next Friday?” Though it makes sense, and I can’t offer a better solution to solve the solution problem, the word irks me for some reason.

Do you know how to jump rope? How confident are you in this skill?

I used to be good at jumping rope, some might even say expert, when I was about seven. Now…not so much.

What do your friends and family know you for?

Being dependable, easy going and “artsy.” From matching family t-shirts and tattoos, to custom drawings and headshots, my people are never afraid to ask me for an artistic favor, and I love being able to help.

Everyone at Raison wears lots of hats. And not the beret type. What’s your favorite hat? Figuratively and literally.

My head generally looks pretty ridiculous in hats, so I tend to not wear them. I would have to say a goofy bucket hat is my favorite though, it’s my go-to at the beach.

Figuratively, I love wearing ALL of the hats and saying, “Yes! I can do that!” I am always trying to teach myself new skills like web design, animation or digital illustration to keep up with the industry. I love having a well-rounded skill set so that I feel confident taking on any big project.

Thanks for making the pilgrimage to Raison and answering our questions. For clients who need the illustrative touch with an artistic approach to design, get in touch with Rachel on our contact page.
